Welcome to the new cohort of SINReM students!
On Monday 19 October, with some delay caused by the Corona virus, we organized the SINReM Kick Off Event 2020 at the campus of the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering in Ghent. No less than 26 students from all over the world and from multidisciplinary backgrounds are starting the SINReM programme this year.
Professors from Ghent University, TU Freiberg and Uppsala University explained more about SINReM and their universities. Freshly graduated SINReM student Maria Ignacia presented her thesis work on improving organic waste collection systems to give the new students an insight in what a SINReM thesis can look like. Also the two SINReM student representatives of the current second year, Emilie and Ariel, gave their enriching perspective on the SINReM programme.
Karl Vrancken from VITO, an important non-academic partner of SINReM, talked about how to evolve to a sustainable society and a circular economy.
Last but not least, Anna, a former SINReM student now working for EIT Raw Materials, introduced the EIT Raw Materials Academy and its numerous opportunities.
We wish the new SINReM students a wonderful experience the coming two years!
